60 Minutes story exposed efforts by Intel to derail work of Nicholas Negroponte’s One Laptop Per Child Initiative
The highly respected U.S. television news program 60 Minutes broadcast a story highlighting the tremendous work of Nicholas Negroponte and his One Laptop Per Child Initiative, of which AMD is a founding member, technology provider and key strategic partner. The non-profit OLPC is an important part of AMD’s 50x15 Initiative, and aims to give children everywhere the opportunity to use technology to learn and grow. Negroponte claims that the OLPC effort is being thwarted by Intel. The 60 Minutes story exposed efforts by Intel to derail this initiative in countries in Latin America and Africa by selling products below cost and through targeted marketing campaigns.
